Training
As a JP, you may make yourself available at a signing desk, at work, be contactable by members of the public and/or through a government or community service. The service you provide is very important and can have a significant impact on your clients. It is incumbent upon you to ensure that you provide not only the best service, but also perform your duties correctly to assure the end user that the documents are correctly witnessed and reduce the possibility of your client experiencing loss/damages or future difficulty when executing these
The Royal Association of Justices of South Australia (RAJSA) supports Justices of the Peace through training and learning opportunities that promote confidence, professionalism, and public trust. Our training is designed to be practical, accessible, and relevant, helping Justices of the Peace carry out their role correctly and confidently in the community.
Our Approach to Training
RAJSA training focuses on good witnessing practice, ethical standards, and understanding expectations. It is not legal advice, but practical guidance to support consistency and integrity in the role of a Justice of the Peace. Training is developed to reflect real situations that JPs commonly encounter and to provide reassurance when dealing with unusual or complex requests.

What Our Training Covers
Training may include guidance on:
- witnessing documents correctly
- statutory declarations and affidavits
- certifying copies of documents
- professional conduct and independence
- recognising conflicts of interest
- responding appropriately when a request cannot be accepted
- changes or updates to procedures and expectations
The aim is to support Justices of the Peace in making sound, confident decisions while respecting the limits of the role.
Who Is Training For?
Training is open to Members and Non-Members of the RAJSA. All training is FREE for Members.
